Click any word to select it, then double-click to type right on the page. Font, size, bold, italic, color and alignment follow the original where possible, and you can restyle everything from the properties panel.

Click it to select, then drag to move or pull the handles to resize. To remove it, press Delete in the toolbar or the Edit menu (or the Del key) — changed your mind? Ctrl+Z undoes it, Ctrl+D duplicates the selection.

Open the Insert menu: Text drops a text box (click) or wrapped text (drag a box), and Image adds PNG, JPEG or WebP pictures up to 2 MB each. New objects can be dragged, resized, rotated and layered like everything else.

Yes — the editor detects fillable fields automatically and shows them as real form controls. Click a text box and type (large boxes expand into multi-line areas), tick checkboxes, pick from dropdowns, and choose one option per radio group — required fields are edged in red until filled. Press Enter — or the Next key on a phone keyboard — to jump to the next field in order. Change a ticked box or a picked option anytime from its context bar. Your entries become real page content: movable, undoable, and baked into the export. Password-locked exports work with filled forms too.

Open page thumbnails — the ▦ button in the toolbar on desktop, the Pages section under the View menu on phones — and drag them into any order, or click one to jump to it. The Add-pages menu adds blank, imported or copied pages, 🗑 removes the current one, and everything is undoable. Need folios? The View menu stamps page numbers onto every page. Your export follows the thumbnail order exactly.

To merge, pick ＋ → From PDF and select several files at once — every page lands in your document in one go. To split, tick the checkboxes on the thumbnails you want, then Save ▾ → Ticked pages as PDF for a new file with just those pages, in thumbnail order.

The main Save button downloads your full edited PDF with real, selectable text. The ▾ menu next to it (mirrored in the File menu on desktop) saves just the current page as its own PDF, ticked pages, a typed page range (e.g. 1-3,5), or a custom file name — renders a JPG or PNG image of the page or of just your selection, shares through your system sheet, sends to print, locks with a password, or deletes your files from the server on the spot. The dialog remembers your last file name and page range for next time.

Open Insert → Redact and drag over the secret — it burns black. Need it reversible instead? Insert → Whiteout covers content under white without burning. A redacted page exports as an image, so no text can ever be recovered from under the bar. If a page cannot be burned safely, the export fails with an error instead of shipping a cover that could be lifted. Your other pages stay sharp, selectable PDFs. For the file's hidden properties (title, author), flip the Scrub toggle in Properties → Document — exports then carry no metadata at all.

Upload it like any other file — you'll be asked for the password, which unlocks that one upload and is never stored or sent anywhere else. A wrong password simply asks again; once open, the file edits exactly like an unprotected one.

Ctrl+K searches every command, Ctrl+F finds and replaces across pages, Ctrl+S saves. V/T/H switch to Select, Text and Highlight; [ and ] walk the selection across objects (Enter opens selected text for typing); +/− zoom. Arrows nudge the selection (hold Shift for bigger steps), Del removes, Ctrl+D duplicates, Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y undo and redo, PageUp / PageDown switch pages. Hold C to compare with the original, hold Space to pan, press ? for the full list. Shift-click groups objects, Alt+click selects the element underneath — handy for bars hiding behind text.

Your finger drags and scrolls the page by default (even zoomed to 300%) instead of grabbing elements. To edit, just double-tap any text — the keyboard pops straight up. Pinch to zoom like any app, or use the floating zoom pill for one-handed control. The big Save button lives at the bottom with Undo/Redo and a ▾ menu for every export format, the Hand button toggles editing on and off, the File, Edit, Insert and View menus open matching sections, and the ☰ button opens the editing panel. You can even photograph a receipt straight into the document with the Image button — oversized shots are fitted automatically.

Yes — hit Create a PDF on the homepage and you'll get a blank one-page document in the editor. Add text, images, shapes, signatures, and pages exactly like an uploaded file, then save it back as a clean PDF. No upload needed to get started.

Open Insert → Sign to stamp your most recently saved signature at the page center, ready to drag into place. Nothing saved yet? It arms the Draw tool instead — sketch your signature, select it, then save it from Properties → Signatures for next time. Insert → Date drops today's date as editable text the same way.

Drag any text box handle to reshape the area — the font size never changes on its own. Stretch a box tall and it fits more wrapped lines; the size dropdown (with presets plus Custom…) is the only thing that changes type size. New boxes inherit the style of whatever you last edited, and a red ⊞ badge appears if text overflows its box — click it to grow the box to fit.

Yes, on desktop: Shift-click objects to group them — move them as one, distribute them evenly, or match their sizes from the Arrange panel (Esc or an empty-canvas click clears the group). Grouped objects can also center on the page or swap two positions from the Edit menu. The Align section in Properties lines any single selection up with the page edges, center, or full width.

Press Ctrl+K (or ⌘K) for the command palette: fuzzy-search every tool, export, page action and selection command in one box. Press Ctrl+F for find & replace across all pages — with highlight, whiteout or redact-every-match for compliance work. Press ? in the editor for the full shortcut list.

Insert → Table adds a bordered grid (style the header row, zebra stripes and borders from the sidebar, then type into cells with the Text tool). Insert → QR encodes any link or short text as a scannable stamp, drawn entirely on your device. Insert → Measure reads the gap between two clicks in the ruler's current unit. Insert → Blur (or Pixelate) drags over anything to obscure it.

The Layers tab lists everything on the page: 👁 hides, ↑↓ reorder, 🔒 locks an object so it can't be touched until unlocked, ✕ deletes. On desktop, rulers frame the workspace — drag a guide out of either rail to align against (drag it back off to remove it), toggle the grid, and drag objects snap to guides, grid, page geometry and each other. View → Split view compares two pages side by side.

Your work is autosaved on your device as you edit. Reopen the same document and you'll be offered your draft back, once. And when the server copy is 5 minutes from self-destructing, a popup warns you — with a Save now button right there. The estimate is pessimistic, so another tab's activity can only extend the real deadline.

Hold the Compare button in the toolbar (or hold C) — every edit hides and you see the pristine original underneath. Release to return to your work. It is view-only: nothing moves, nothing is lost.

Every tool now lives in the File, Edit, Insert and View menus at the left of the toolbar — Select and the Hand stay pinned beside them so they're always one tap away. Insert holds all creation tools (Text, Image, shapes, Draw, Highlight, Whiteout, Blur, Redact, Measure, Field, tables, QR, Date, Sign and stamps); Edit holds undo, redo, find, strikethrough, the format painter and arranging; View holds pages, rulers, reading mode and shortcuts; File holds every save action. On phones the same menus open matching sheet sections. Ctrl+K searches everything, and ? shows the full shortcut list.

Open Insert → Field, pick Text, Checkbox or Dropdown, then click to drop a default-size field or drag any rectangle — a ghost preview follows the cursor so you see the size before you commit. Select the placed field to rename it in Properties: require it, set a default value, allow multiple lines, cap the length, align the text, or list the dropdown options. It exports as a real interactive field that any reader can fill.

Pick up any text style with the format painter (Edit menu) and paint it onto other text with one click. Insert stamps DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, APPROVED or PAID in one tap. View → Document statistics counts pages, words and objects; View → Reading mode hides every toolbar for distraction-free review (Esc exits). Lines grow arrowheads from their style controls.

The Hand button at the left of the menu bar switches between two modes. Highlighted, you're in pan mode: a finger drags and scrolls the page without touching anything on it. Tap it again to go back to edit mode, where you can select, move and change objects.

Turn the Hand on, then drag anywhere on the document — up, down, left, right. That works at any zoom, including 300%. If dragging grabs an object instead of scrolling, the Hand is off: tap it once to enable pan mode.

Long-press the object and pick Delete from the quick menu (duplicate, all-pages repeat, select-underneath, bring-to-front and send-to-back live there too). The bottom bar's Undo button reverses it. With a keyboard attached, the Del key and Ctrl+Z work as on desktop.

Select an object, then tap the ☰ Properties button in the top bar. The editing panel opens with every control — text style, colors, rotation, opacity, layering and duplicate. Tap ✕ to close it and get your full screen back.

Pinch to zoom like any app, double-tap empty space for a smart zoom toggle, or use the floating zoom pill for one-handed control. Flick sideways in pan mode to turn pages.

A thumb-friendly Save bar sits at the bottom with Undo, Redo and a ▾ menu holding every format (this page, ticked pages, page ranges, JPG/PNG, lock, share, print). Exports show live progress and a tap-to-retry button if the network drops.

No — edits live on your device regardless. Saving needs a connection, and the app says so plainly instead of failing cryptically. If a save fails mid-way, tap Save again to retry, and reopening the document offers your autosaved draft back.

Up to 100 pages in a single document. Add blank pages, insert pages from other PDFs, delete pages, or save any single page on its own — all inside the editor.

Each PDF upload can be up to 10 MB, and images you add inside the editor can be up to 2 MB each (10 per document). PDFs you attach with Add pages can be up to 10 MB each (10 per document, 30 MB total). Phone photos are resized on-device to fit automatically. There is no separate per-page limit — the whole file just needs to fit inside 10 MB.

Scans are photographs of pages, not real text — there are no text runs to select, so the editor tells you so instead of pretending. Tap Make selectable (beta) on the banner and the editor reads the page right in your browser (English) and turns every line into real, movable text. Proofread the result — OCR is good, not perfect — and use a straight, high-contrast scan for best results.

The usual reasons: it isn't really a PDF under the hood, or its internal structure couldn't be read. Password-protected PDFs are welcome — you'll simply be asked for the password, which unlocks that one upload and is never stored. Genuine one-upload PDFs from Word, Google Docs, invoicing tools and browsers all work.

Yes. Open the Save ▾ menu and choose Lock with password… — your download is then AES-128 encrypted and needs the password to open — the flavor every reader (including phones) understands. Printing and copying stay allowed; changing the document does not. Write the password down: a lost password means a lost file.

Your content survives untouched — but the document outline (bookmarks) and the original file's clickable links are not carried into the export, which is rebuilt page by page. Links you add yourself in the editor (the link field in Properties) export as real, clickable links.

When you upload a PDF, a temporary working copy is kept on our server only so the editor can do its job — rendering pages while you work and building your download when you hit export. About one hour after your last activity, an automatic cleanup permanently deletes your files, and nothing survives longer than 24 hours no matter what. Nothing is ever made public, passed on to anyone else, or used to identify you.

Yes — open Save ▾ → Delete my files…, confirm, and everything for that document is wiped immediately before you return to the homepage. Otherwise the automatic cleanup deletes it about an hour after your last activity. Deleting and getting a new link work from the tab that created the document; in any other tab you can still edit and export, and the files still self-destruct on schedule. If the link itself leaked (shared screen, forwarded URL), File menu → Get a new private link moves the whole session to a fresh address — the old one stops opening on the spot, and your work carries over untouched.

Editing happens in stages: the file has to be there while you move between pages, add images, undo changes, and finally export. If we deleted it the second you stopped clicking, the editor would break mid-session. One hour comfortably covers a real editing session — and then it is gone for good.
