1. Purpose of this policy

LibertyPDF respects your privacy and keeps your documents secure while you use our free Service. This policy explains what personal data we process, why, how long we keep it, who we share it with (almost no one), and what rights you have. By using the Service you confirm you have read it; the Terms of Service govern use of the Service itself.

2. Who is responsible for your personal data?

"Personal data" is any information relating to an identified or identifiable person, such as a name, email address, or signature. LibertyPDF, operated from Jacksonville, Florida, USA, is responsible for ("controls") the personal data described in this policy. Note that files you upload may contain personal data of other people — including third parties whose documents you are editing. Please make sure you are authorized to process their data and that they would have no objection; we process such file contents only as far as technically necessary to render and export your document.

3. What personal data do we process?

Only what the Service technically needs: the PDF files and content you upload or add (text, images, drawn signatures), used solely to render pages while you work and build your download on export. We do not access, analyze, review, index, or act on file contents for any other purpose, no human reviews your documents, and nothing is published, shared, sold, or mined.

LIBERTYPDF DOES NOT USE YOUR CONTENT TO TRAIN, IMPROVE, OR DEVELOP ITS OWN OR ANY THIRD-PARTY AI MODELS.

Passwords get special treatment: a password you enter to open a protected PDF unlocks that one upload in memory and is never written down anywhere, in logs or otherwise. A password you set on a locked export exists only in your browser for the download and is never sent to us at all.

Exported files carry no hidden baggage from your original: the download is built as a fresh document, so the original file's embedded title, author, and similar metadata are not copied over — only our tool stamp plus whatever you optionally type into the sidebar's Document fields (or nothing at all with the Scrub toggle on).

4. For which purposes do we process it?

Providing the Service you asked for — rendering, editing state, and export — because that is what the Service exists to do. Answering queries and fixing incidents you report to us, based on our legitimate interest in supporting users. Protecting the Service through rate limiting, error traces, and abuse prevention, based on our legitimate interest in security. Complying with legal obligations, such as responding to lawful government requests. Two strictly-necessary cookies keep the app working — a session cookie remembering which temporary workspace is yours and a security (CSRF) token proving your own browser made each request. Both expire after a couple of hours, are never used for tracking, and there is nothing to opt into, so private browsing works fine.

We disclose personal data only when necessary: to comply with a legal obligation (for example, a lawful order from a competent authority); to hosting and infrastructure providers acting strictly on our instructions and only as far as needed to run the Service; and, only if you choose to donate, to Amazon on its own site under its own policies — we never see your payment details. We never sell data, use analytics or ad vendors, or embed social widgets. Our servers are in the United States (primary: Chicago, Illinois), so visitors from elsewhere should know their files and session data are processed in the US while they use the Service.

6. How long do we keep it?

Files and session contents are deleted automatically about one hour after your last activity — there is no longer retention, no archive, and no "download link" period. Technical logs (pages requested, error traces, rate-limit hits, which contain no document contents, file names, or passwords) rotate away automatically on a schedule. Once retention periods end, data is deleted.

Some things stay on your own device, never on our servers: unsent draft edits, saved signatures, recent colors and display preferences live in your browser's local storage so the editor works across visits. Deleting your files removes the rescue draft, the Signatures tab deletes saved signatures individually, and clearing the site's data in your browser removes the rest.

7. What rights do you have?

Because there are no accounts and files self-destruct within about an hour, there is generally nothing to export or correct — deletion is automatic and complete. You may still ask us to confirm what (if anything) we hold about you, to delete it, or to object to any processing described here, by writing to help@libertypdf.com — we answer plainly and promptly. If you believe your rights have been infringed, you may also complain to your state attorney general or other competent authority.

8. Under 18

Our Service is not directed at children, but students may use it, including in schools. Any such use must be supervised by parents, guardians, or the educational institution (including teachers), whose responsibility it is. School-provided access takes place within educational activities under that institution's responsibility. If a minor has used the Service without required supervision, or sent personal information by mistake (for example inside a document), contact us and we will delete the relevant session files immediately.

Security and changes

All traffic is encrypted in transit, session files live outside the publicly served web directory under unguessable identifiers, uploads are validated byte-by-byte, and the server runs patched software behind rate limiting. If you find a vulnerability, report it to help@libertypdf.com and give us a reasonable chance to fix it before disclosing it. If this policy ever changes meaningfully, the new version appears here with an updated date; continued use after a change means acceptance.
